Berrima Street Early Learning

More than rooms

The parts of a week here that aren't really about which room your child is in.

Free Kindy

Our Pre-Prep room runs a Queensland Free Kindy approved program in the year before school, led by a qualified early childhood teacher. The funding comes off your fees rather than arriving as a rebate — the calculator shows what's actually left to pay.

The bayside walk

Every Wednesday our oldest children walk down to the esplanade with an educator for every three children. They come back with shells, driftwood and something to add to the weather chart by the door.

The sensory wall

Built at crawling height in the babies' room from shells, netting, smooth glass and rope, so the bay reaches the children who can't walk down to it yet. The day is built around it: floor time, a sleep when it's wanted, and the big window open to the breeze.

The Juniors day

Sandpit first thing, before the Queensland sun gets high. Then the shell craft table — set up fresh every morning — painting, and the slow work of learning to be a good friend to somebody. Toileting when your child is ready, not to a deadline.
